ChefScribe FAQ

❓ What does ChefScribe actually do?

ChefScribe takes a YouTube cooking video and instantly turns it into a tidy, written recipe you can cook from.
Just click the extension while the video is open β€” and the whole recipe appears in a clear, organised format.

❓ Can I change the serving size?

Yes!
ChefScribe has a handy serving-size slider.
Move it up or down, and the ingredient amounts update automatically β€” and so do the nutrition values.

No calculations. No guesswork. Just slide and cook.

❓ Does ChefScribe show nutrition information?

It does!
Each recipe includes basic nutrition details, and these adjust automatically when you change the serving size.

❓ Can I cook along using ChefScribe?

Definitely.
ChefScribe includes a Check-Off Mode, so you can tick ingredients or steps as you go.
They’ll get crossed out, helping you keep your place while cooking.

❓ Where are my recipes saved

Every recipe you extract is saved privately in your own Recipe Shelf inside ChefScribe.
It’s your personal collection β€” calm, organised, and easy to come back to anytime.

If someone else extracts the same recipe, they just get their own private copy.
No one sees each other’s shelves.

❓ Can I share recipes?

Yes there’s a Share button.
This lets you send someone a simple link so they can view the recipe too.

❓ Can I print recipes?

Absolutely!
ChefScribe gives you a clean, no-clutter print view that’s perfect for using in the kitchen or keeping in a binder.

❓ Do I need an account?

You’ll need a free account to save recipes to your shelf, share them, or print them.
But testing the extension itself doesn’t require one.

❓ Does ChefScribe own the recipes?

No not at all.
ChefScribe simply helps you turn publicly available YouTube cooking videos into written recipe cards.
All credit stays with the original creators.

❓ Do you track what I watch on YouTube?

No ChefScribe only activates when you click the button.
We don’t collect your viewing history or track your browsing.

❓ Who is ChefScribe for?

Anyone who finds it easier to cook from a calm, written recipe rather than a fast-moving video.
It’s great for beginners, busy cooks, visual learners, and people who love collecting recipes without the chaos.

❓ How do I start?

Install the extension, play a cooking video on YouTube, and click the ChefScribe icon.
Your first recipe will appear in seconds.
